Snowy Plover

The Snowy Plover is a tiny shorebird with pale plumage and dark neck patches, often found on sandy beaches and salt flats. They are known for their quirky behavior of running in short bursts to catch insects and crustaceans. These plucky birds use their belly to make shallow scrapes in the sand for nesting. During the breeding season, males perform a unique "puff and run" dance to attract mates. Conservation efforts continue due to their declining habitat.
