Oregon Junco

The Oregon Junco, a charming subspecies of the Dark-eyed Junco, sports a striking combination of a black hood, pink bill, and warm brown back. Found in forests, woodlands, and gardens along the Pacific Coast, these birds are ground foragers, hopping around to find seeds and insects. Their fluttery flight and rapid, tinkling song add a lively presence to any landscape. During winter, they form flocks and can be seen foraging together, often joined by other sparrows. Males perform a hopping, wing-flicking dance during courtship, adding to their quirky appeal.
